VIRTUAL Global

VIRTUAL Global is an international collaboration of several country specific observational registries and prospective cohort studies of adult and paediatric patients with vitiligo, who receive phototherapy (including lasers and combination of phototherapy with other topical or oral agents), oral systemics, surgery and new immunomodulators including topical and oral JAK inhibitors once they enter country specific market.

There is an urgent need for new, effective and licensed treatments for vitiligo.

In the dawn on new therapeutic era of new emerging treatments such as topical and oral JAK inhibitors, evidence will be needed on the effectiveness, safety, pharmacovigilance and cost effectiveness of such therapies compared to other treatments.

Currently no national or international registries for patients with vitiligo exist. Individual dermatologists, in various countries, maintain mainly descriptive database of such patients, and do not aim to establish short- and long-term safety (pharmacovigilance) and effectiveness of vitiligo therapies.

Thus, there is a need for internationally coordinated efforts to combine these individual registries into a broader national and subsequently international registry.
